I went into this year expecting to have my mind blown and I was right. It was blown. I had an even deeper look at what coding feels like by coding more complex 2D video games. Even though I never finished the second game I coded, it was fun and frustrating to do that. Personally speaking, the thing I learned that felt the most important was learning how to use two new Adobe products; Adobe Audition and Adobe premiere. It was a blast because it allowed me to do something I do on the side, editing videos. I edit for my YouTube channel. All it did was just give me some more editing knowledge of different editors than the one I was familiar with, Shotcut. They were great programs that allowed me to do things I could never do things I couldn't do in my other editor. It was a lot of fun making videos. I've never not had fun editing a video before.
Already having experience in a working environment, I knew what it was like to truly have an independent work session as I've had that before. That kind of environment promotes and encourages productivity. In this class, working in silence makes me feel more productive, no matter what I'm doing. It's been that way for me for years. In the work or video game environment, sometimes, you'll have no choice but to work independently. And from this class, I've learned that though it may be hard, it's possible. Not all jobs require independent work but some do and it's nice to know that I was able to get some experience from it. Ironically though, the one subject that I feel like should be removed it video editing. It doesn't really have much to do with gaming. Maybe for some lighting effects but then again, I'm sure that those options are available in Unity. Most people in this class are more familiar with Unity than any of the video editing software we had used before. Not very many video game trailers I see require heavy, Hollywood style of editing. Just a compilation of clips, some action and end it all with a release date. As far as this class could be improved? I don't know what to say honestly, I feel like it's pretty alright the way it is. I think it's fine.
